Re: 11 Reasons Soft Serve Is the Best Ice Cream Ever

I need to lay off the ice cream and the chocolate covered anythings. Who knew that when you quit smoking and hit your 40's you'd start to gain weight? It must be a new phenomenon...

Re: The WW2 Fairy Visited Again

Well, one is a Springfield Armory that was manufactured in October 1944. Well, at least the receiver was made in October 1944. The bolt and trigger housing were made by International Harvester, perhaps post war. The barrel is from December 1946, because the original would have been replaced as part ...

The WW2 Fairy Visited Again

I love it when that happens! http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d22/JFK1969/archeology/CandR/garands_zpsr6kkzvzh.jpg When it comes to the M1 Garand, I tend to agree with General Patton - at least in a historically contemporaneous sense: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d22/JFK1969/PattonLetter1_zps0...

Re: JADE HELM - Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Who needs Jade Helm in Texas when we have Robin Sage every year right here in North Carolina? http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/07/14/robin-sage-exercise-begins-this-week.html Anecdotally, I was once doing some agricultural work in a southeastern county at about this same time of year. I was 5...

Re: TFF? Indulge me.

That guy was not intelligent. He was just a malignant troll. And how sorry of a person do you have to be, or empty a life do you have to have, that you get your jollies from being an asshole. It is actually sad that this was the only way he apparently knew to get attention for himself.

Re: TFF? Indulge me.

In retrospect, it is kinda funny how dysfunctional that whole thing got. It is even more curious when you consider all the hoops and whatnot that were jumped through by everyone in order to 'preserve' the group (going through ENC to TFF) - just so they could methodically tear it all apart once it fi...

Re: Charleston Church Shooting

The scary thing about this is that it illustrates how an apparently otherwise "normal" kid can so easily get sucked down the rabbit hole in the internet age - where no matter the subject, you can completely immerse/surround yourself with supporting opinions/arguments (no matter how illogic...

If I am anti-gun, I argue that the Chicago/Baltimore violence is a perfect example of why we need less guns.

Re: A Gun Is Now More Likely Than A Car To Kill You

Also, remember that we can also semantically distort the numbers and amplify the fear/outrage factor (either way) by disingenuously using the terms "homicide" and "murder" interchangeably, when they are two completely separate things.

Re: An Interesting Piece of WW2

My latest find: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d22/JFK1969/BRP_zpsyptqyewn.jpg It is an Inland (General Motors) M1 carbine. It was made in late 1943 or so. It is pretty much original, with only a couple of replacement parts (like the front barrel band). What is cool about this particular rifle is...

Re: ATTN: Homeowners/PotentialHomeowners/Fans of Property Rights

The bill to eliminate protest petitions entirely is absolutely being pushed by developers (and their lobby) who want to remove ANY barriers to unrestrained development. But, I do think that the system instead needs to be modernized to prevent abuses committed in order to thwart needed or otherwise d...

Re: ATTN: Homeowners/PotentialHomeowners/Fans of Property Rights

I am sure there are examples of abuse, though I do not work in that area of law, so I have not been personally involved with it. I have heard (anecdotally) of the process being abused to great effect in a few situations. That said, even if there are egregious examples of abuse, the entire process sh...
