- Civil Rights Law - struck down by SCOTUS and defeated by a Party line vote
- Right To Vote - challenged by un-vetted stories and, without ONE House committee or ONE Senate investigation, allowed additional restrictions
- Right to Marriage - opposed by the majority of ONE party
It seems to me IMHO, White southerners operate like clockwork, denying blacks full Constitutional rights, forcefully, whenever there appears to be progress for blacks........immediate end of the Civil War, Reconstruction, SCOTUS decision on Brown vs Board of Education, Civil rights bills of 1964 & 1965, election of Barrack Obama as POTUS,.........
Clinton: Alabama living through ‘blast from the Jim Crow past’
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton penned a blistering op-ed on Saturday in which she declared the red state of Alabama the “front line” of the voting rights battle.
The piece, published on AL.com, calls out the state’s Republican governor, Robert J. Bentley, for allowing 31 driver’s license offices to close there at the end of this month, which would disproportionately affect voters of color seeking the required ID to vote. Clinton called the move “just dead wrong.”
“Governor Bentley is insisting that the closings had nothing to do with race, but the facts tell a different story. Fifty years after Rosa Parks sat, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. marched, and John Lewis bled, it’s hard to believe Americans are still forced to fight for their right to vote—especially in places where the civil rights movement fought so hard all those years ago. The parallels are inescapable: Alabama is living through a blast from the Jim Crow past,” wrote Clinton.
To me, its plain and simple from this standpoint: GOP, if you want some new voters or to effectively place a wedge in the black democratic vote, NOW IS THE TIME!! Black voters are wanting to support a party that represents their interest, and are speaking loudly against this issue.
Now, if you truly want to know why blacks vote democratic when you 'say' that the Republicans have done more for negroes in America, look at the issue above. See who is and who is not speaking loud. If the national GOP leadership or one of those inmates in charge of the asylum in Washington don't get on the horn against this very transparent move back to Jim Crow, please don't come up in here all serious asking or bemoaning why blacks vote democratic or trying to advance the notion that Republicans love Americans.
You will be talking out the side of your neck or, as James Brown put it: Talking Loud and Saying Nothing.
