How do I clear my cache?

Post #1 by Porque » November 1st, 2013, 9:12 pm

I have a relatively-new Dell laptop with a Linux OS.

Over time - say once a week - it gets very slow, especially when I put it in the 'sleep' mode overnight. With Windows I could clear the cache memory every so often and be back on my speedy way in a matter of seconds.

Now, with Linux. I'm told there's no need to worry with such silliness. But I've got to say, it is getting slower and sloowwwer evvvvvverrrrry day.

Anybody know how to fix this?

There's a program called "top" in every Linux. Open a command window and type it in. That will tell you what process is using the most cpu/memory.

Thank you, John. I'll try that right now.
