Not to put too fine a point on it, but you do realize Clapton played lead on the original White Album mix of the song, don't you?

Of course. It wouldn't have been the song it was at the time without him.

But Prince is absolutely awesome in the above video.

Oh, yeah: that is an unparalleled moment in music history, without question.

But his solo -- as well as Clapton's -- came out of Harrison's songwriting prowess.

Were the Beatles the greatest instrumentalists in the world? No, and not a one of them would have ever made such a claim.

But they were outstanding musicians, and the world is a far better place for them having found each other and worked together for those few brief years. I think a serious argument could be made that without the groundwork the Beatles laid, Clapton never would have put Cream together, nor Prince The Revolution.

But again, that's just my opinion.
