The 31 Plays in 31 Days Challenge, 2013

Post #1 by 7rob7 » August 22nd, 2013, 7:56 am

Don't know if I'll make it -- a hellacious month, about which more later -- but here's what I've got so far --

There will be more; just got this stuff online this morning.

Thanks.

Six more to go as of this morning: I'm starting to think I'm going to make it. What I did is write out plot & character ideas/notes/snippets of dialogue/etc. for all 31, so now it's really mostly typing and editing.

The truly scary part is how even in these brief 5-10 minutes scenes, where and with who I start is not necessarily where and with who I wind up.

Thanks. Enjoy.

Posted the 31st one right before noon today. Huff-da.

Feels like I accomplished something, I just don't know what yet. We'll see.

Hokay! Great work.

Are you going to combine them all into one big 31-page PDF or do I have to do that? :smoking:

Actually, most of them are 3-5 pages -- a couple are longer -- so putting them all into one would be over 100 pages.

I am thinking of doing that so it takes up less room on scribd.com (you know, if you search for "7rob7" there you get the recipe book you posted a couple of years ago) but I think later, when I'm not as on top of the whole thing.

One of the things that made it an experience is my mother-in-law going into the hospital for an emergency gall bladder inflammation/removal. She's home now, seeing a bunch of therapists to get back in shape, but she was in the hospital for over a week, which means I spent a lot of time there keeping her company so 7wife7 could get out for a few hours a day.

At least two of the scripts have to do with doctors or being in a hospital… funny, that.

When I looked earlier, #31 was not yet posted.

I did put the link in a thread on Frogbrow. :D

They're all there. I posted #31 a week ago; #30 was the actual 31st script, and that and #29 were the two I posted this morning.

Try this link -- http://www.scribd.com/7rob7/documents -- and see if it's any different for you.

Thanks! :-bd

I particularly enjoyed "The Elephant Gun in the Room".

Thanks! That's one I like, too. It's not often you can come up with a way to have those characters interacting; at least, if you're not DC or Marvel...

Chekhov really did say that -- there really is a Wikipedia article titled Chekhov's Gun -- and a lot of people really do adhere to the idea.

So it occurred to me to have my class pick one of these to "practice on" in terms of developing a play for presentation...

They picked The Elephant Gun in the Room. Funny: I never realized how popular shooting a little girl in the face would be.

Shit, y'know? I could have been famous years ago. :mad2:

The "official" lists are up, and I is on both of them. Woo!

This means I get to pick one of my scripts to be produced as a podcast sometime over the next year. Woo-woo!

(For those of you reading the Scribd link at home, the one I'm leaning towards is Whither Candy Stripers?... but I can be bought if you'd rather I pick something else.) \:D/
